Bill Stockwell and his wife, Loretta, live in the community
of Park Place in Wasaga Beach. Since coming to Wasaga
Beach, Bill has served in a volunteer capacity, as co-ordinator
of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Drive.
Bill started his municipal career as Vice Chairman of both the
Etobicoke and the Metropolitan Toronto planning boards. He
was elected to the position of Senior Controller and Deputy
Mayor in Etobicoke, as well as an executive member of the
Metropolitan Toronto Council. During that time he also served
as Chairman of the O’Keefe Centre for the Performing Arts,
and Budget Chief in Etobicoke, as well as a member of the
Metropolitan Toronto Budget Committee.
Bill left his elected position ten years later to become Chief
General Manager of Exhibition Place and the Canadian
National Exhibition. Under his leadership the Exhibition
operating budget went from a deficit to a profit position, as
a result of reversing a downward spiral of operational decay
and adding annual events like the Molson Indy car race.
Following his time at the Exhibition Bill returned to the
municipal field, serving as Chief Administrative Officer in four
municipalities across southern Ontario.
